How to Enable the New Avanti Experience

Want to get started on the New Avanti Experience? Once enabled, each Avanti User can choose whether they’d like to try out the New Avanti Experience or continue using their current experience.

Only Regular Avanti Users with an Admin User group can enable the New Avanti Experience. You can get started in four easy steps:

Accept Terms of Service
Before you can get started on the New Avanti Experience, you’ll need to agree to our updated Software as a Service Subscription Agreement.

Set the Early Access Groups
Only users in one of the early access user groups can enjoy the New Avanti Experience. All other users will continue to use their current experience.

Once you’re ready for more of your users to try out the New Avant Experience, just update the New Avanti Experience in System Configuration.

Opt into New Features
You can choose which new features to try out. You can try them all, or choose just a couple.

Want to adjust the new features you’re trying? You can add or remove features in the New Experience in System Configuration.

Update the Company Logo
Update the logo displaying in the top-left corner of the New Avanti Experience.

Your marketing team can provide a logo that’s a PNG, JPG, JPEG, or SVG file. The file must be smaller than 40 pixels high by 266 pixels wide. The logo’s background colour should be rgb (235, 235, 235) or Hex: #EBEBEB if it isn’t transparent.

Enable the New Avanti Experience

Only regular users with the Admin User Group can enable the New Avanti Experience. There are two ways to enable the New Avanti Experience:

  1. A popup displays every time you log in to the Avanti Self-Service Portal.

  2. If you’ve dismissed the popup, you can get started anytime in Administration Settings on the Avanti Self-Service Portal.

Additional Information
Your Admin User Group must have Responsibility Level A to the company to set up the New Avanti Experience.

Step 1: When you log in to the Avanti Self-Service Portal, select Get Started in the New Avanti Experience Awaits popup.

Important Information
Only Regular Avanti Users with the Admin User Group can enable the New Avanti Experience. If you don’t have an Admin User Group, go to Creating an Admin User Group for more information. Your Admin User Group must have responsibility level A to the company.

Step 2: If you previously selected Don’t show again on the popup, select the New Avanti Setup tab in Administration Settings and click Set Up the New Experience.

Step 3: Select Start Setup to get started.

Step 4: Once you’ve reviewed the Software as a Service Subscription Agreement, select the checkboxes and enter your electronic signature. Then click Continue.

Step 5: Select the User Groups for the employees you’d like to try out the New Avanti Experience, and then select Continue.

Additional Information
The Admin is always selected, so you’ll always be able to access the New Avanti Experience. You can choose to switch back to your current experience anytime.

Step 6: In the New Avanti Experience Menu, you’ll see the new features woven into your current menu. Select a new feature to try by selecting the checkbox beside the feature.

Additional Information
The new features you’re not using have a yellow border. New features you’ve selected have a green border.

Once you’ve selected a feature, you’ll be able to adjust who can access the feature. Access to the feature defaults to the permissions you’ve set on the corresponding menu in the current experience.

Important Information
Basic Information now displays your employee’s SIN. Access to SIN can be restricted in Subfunction Access Control py\sin.
We recommend only Admin and Payroll User Groups have access. Unsure about how to adjust this setting? Check out Restricting Access to SIN.

Step 7: Select the Icon for the new feature.

Additional Information
You can only select Icons for menus that are highest on the menu. If the menu appears beneath another, the icons aren’t displayed.

You can select the Icon to access the New Avanti Experience Menu when the menu is collapsed.

Step 8: Select the Role Type for the feature.

Additional Information
The Role Type, along with Pay Group Access, determines which employees the Managers and Regular Users can access in the feature. For more information on roles, go to Role Assignments.

For example, if Time Entry is selected, Managers and Regular Users must have a role assigned to the employee’s position for time entry to be able to the employees in the new feature.

Step 9: Select the User Groups who can access the feature.

Additional Information
Only users in one of the selected User Groups can access the New Feature.

If a User Group is selected in Early Access User Groups that’s not selected in the New Feature, they’ll still be able to access the corresponding feature in the current experience if they have access.

Step 10: Set your desired Responsibility to Add, Edit, View, and Delete within the New Feature.

  • A * grants access to all users.

  • Enter an A to restrict access the most. Only users with A will have access.

  • Enter any other letter. Users with that letter will have access. Users with a letter between that level of access and A will also have access.

Additional Information
Responsibility levels range from A to Z, with A being the most restrictive. The user’s responsibility level is based on the user groups assigned to them. Go to Responsibilities for more information.

For example, if the Modify Responsibility is B, the user would have to have A or B access to modify the document.

Step 11: Select Save.

Step 12: Repeat Steps 6 to 11 for each New Feature you’d like to try.

Step 13: Select Finish.
