How to Add New Items to Your Avanti Menus

Do you want to start using a new feature that is not currently on your menu? You can add new menu items to the following Avanti menus:

  • System Menu
  • Employee Profile Menu
  • Applicant Profile Menu
  • Web Menu

Step 1: Identify the Menu to Update

Here’s how to locate each menu:

System Menu

System Administration >> System Menu >> System Menu

Employee Profile Menu

System Administration >>System Menu >> Employee Profile Menu

Applicant Profile Menu

Applicant Management >> Installation & Maintenance >> Applicant Profile Menu

Web Menu

Web Services >> Installation & Maintenance >> Web Menu

Step 2: Compare Menus

Once you have identified and opened the program to update, click ‘Display Update Menu’ to view all the menu items available in Avanti.

  1. The Avanti Menu displays all the menu items currently in your system on the left side of the screen.
  2. The Update Menu on the right side of the screen will display all the menu items released by Avanti.

The menu item may appear in red, yellow, or blue in the Update Menu.

  • If the menu item is red, you do not have this menu item on your Avanti Menu.
    To learn how to add it, go to Step 3A
  • If the menu item is yellow, a version of this menu item is currently on your Avanti Menu.
    To learn how to review the difference and update the menu, go to Step 3B
  • If the menu item is blue, your Avanti Menu is up-to-date with this menu item.
    You do not need to make any changes to your existing setup

Step 3A: Add the new menu

To insert the menu items, right-click on the Update Menu Item that should be moved to the Avanti Menu and select ‘Add New in Avanti Menu’ You can only add the menu if the menu item is only on the Update Menu.
Menu items that only appear on the Update Menu will appear in red.

When adding web menu items, please refer to the configuration section of the reference guide to confirm whether additional setup is required.

To change the location of the menu item in the Avanti Menu, go to Step 4.

If the menu is in the correct location, click OK to save the changes to the menu. You have now successfully added the menu.

Step 3B: Review Menu Differences and Update the Menu

Menu items that are different on the Update Menu from the Avanti Menu will appear in yellow.

To compare and update a menu item, right-click on the Update Menu Item and click ‘Merge Avanti Menu Item’.

The difference between the two menus will appear in yellow.

Click OK to use the new program if:

  • The programs are different, or
  • The program options are different and the program option on the Avanti Menu is 0

*If the program options on the Avanti Menu are anything other than 0, please contact Avanti’s Client Care Team to confirm that the program should be updated.


When updating web menu items, please refer to the configuration section of the reference guide to confirm whether additional setup is required.

If the menu item is updated, and you want to change the location of the menu item in the Avanti Menu, go to Step 4.

If the menu is in the correct location, click OK to save the changes to the menu. You have now successfully added the menu.

Step 4: Rearranging Menu Items

Once the menu item has been added, it can be moved to a different location using the navigation panel available on your selected menu.

Please Note: The navigation panel is disabled when ‘Display Update Menu’ is selected. If ‘Display Update Menu’ has been selected, please select ‘Hide Update Menu.’

To Move the Menu:

 moves the highlighted menu item up on the menu.

 moves the highlighted menu item down on the menu.

 moves the highlighted menu item to the left on the menu (into a parent menu item).

 moves the highlighted menu item to the right on the menu (out of a parent menu item).

Once the menu items have been moved to their correct location, click OK to save your changes to the menu.
