Test companies are a helpful tool for Avanti Administrators. If you don’t have a test company, you can create a new company to try new features or use it to provide a safety net when completing an irreversible process – such as Update Pay Run Processing.
Additional Information for On-Prem Clients
Creating additional companies may impact the performance of your servers, depending on the amount of data in your companies. If this applies to you, we recommend reusing an existing test company instead of creating a new one.
How to Create a New Test Company
Step 1: Open Companies.
By default, this can be found in System Administration >> System Access Controls.
Step 2: Select Insert.
Step 3: Enter the Company Database and Company Name.
The company database cannot be changed once created.
The company name is displayed throughout Avanti and the Avanti Self-Service Portal. You can change the company name at any time.
Step 4: Enter a password and confirm the password, if you want additional security when accessing the company on the Avanti Desktop. This is optional but recommended.
Step 5: Select Web Enabled if the company should be available on the Avanti Self-Service Portal.
Users will only be able to access this company on the Avanti Self-Service Portal if they have User Group Access to it.
Step 6: Deselect Production Company, then select OK.
If Production Company is selected, you will not be able to copy data over from other companies. Additionally, you can only create files to transmit to a bank when Production Company is selected.
Step 7: A new screen will open. Enter the City and Province.
The company name and address will be overwritten during the Copy Data process.
Step 8: Select the User Group that should have access to the new test company and select the arrow to move it to the Selected column. Only users that are in one of the selected user groups will have access to the test company.
Step 9: Repeat Step 8 for each user group that should have access to the company.
Step 10: Select OK to create the company. This will take a couple of minutes to complete.
Congratulations! You have successfully created a new company.
