Widget Setup Guide

Give users control of their homepage on the Avanti Self-Service Portal with Widgets. Widgets display essential information on the homepage and are tailored to each person’s liking.

Everyone can include up to 30 Widgets on their homepage, up to three across and ten down.

Messages
Keep employees connected by including your employees’ most recently received messages on the homepage. Users can choose whether to display 10, 20, or 30 of the most recent messages during their configuration. Go to Messages Widget on the Self-Service Portal for more information.

Dashboard
Managers and Regular users can view the most relevant dashboards from their homepage. You can choose from any of the standard Avanti dashboards. You’ll need to create a different Widget for each dashboard you’d like available.

Pay Statements
Employees can choose which pay information they’d like to display by including the earnings, deductions, benefits, and net pay of their last ten pays. They can also go to their full pay statement by selecting View all Pay Statements at the bottom of the Widget.

Schedules
Help employees plan their time with the schedules widget; employees will see their upcoming shifts for the next 21 days. Any cancelled schedules aren’t displayed here. Schedules in green are approved; yellow schedules are neither approved nor cancelled.

Employee Dashboards
Allow employees to compare their pay over time with employee dashboards. The employee’s last five pays display so they can see any changes in their pay over time. These dashboards are dynamic; you can hover over the dots and bar to see the exact date and amount.

PDF Viewer
Use this Widget to include any Company Documents you’d like to display. These documents must be PDFs. Only users with access to the Document Type can view the Company Document.

Who’s Off
Managers and Regular Users can see who is on vacation at a glance; this Widget displays up to 25 employees taking vacation or leave today, along with their primary position. For an employee to display, the user must have role permissions to the employee, along with user group access to their pay group.

How to Create a Widget

Widget Sources determine which data users can include as a Widget, along with who can access the Widget and its general look.

Step 1: Select Insert on Widget Sources in the Avanti Desktop Application.
By default, this can be found in Web Services >> Installation and Maintenance.

Step 2: Create a unique identifier for the Widget in Source Code.

Additional Information
Once the Widget Source is saved, the Source Code cannot be modified.

Step 3: Select the type of Widget you’d like to create from Source.

Additional Information
Depending on the Source you select, you may need to make additional selections, such as which company document or dashboard you’d like to display.

Step 4: Enter what you’d like to display for the Widget during setup on ASSP in Name and Name (French).

Additional Information
The Name (French) appears when someone is logged into ASSP in French. Go to French in Avanti
to learn more about enabling French.

Step 5: Add the heading that appears on Widget in Default Heading and Default Heading (French).

Additional Information
Users can change the Heading in the settings on ASSP. These only display if Heading Visible
is selected when the Widget is configured on ASSP.

Step 6: Select the Icon and Default Style you want to display. You can preview the style you select below.

Additional Information
Users can change these in the settings on ASSP; they only display if Heading Visible
is selected when the Widget is configured on ASSP.

Step 7: Select the Minimum User Class to restrict who can view the Widget.

  • Regular: Only Regular Users will have access to the Widget.

  • Manager Self Service: Managers and Regular Users can access the Widget.

  • Employee Self Service: All Avanti Users can access the Widget.

Additional Information
Minimum User Class works together with Access Controls to determine who can view the Widget. Some Widgets are only available to Regular Users and Managers.

Step 8: Select a Role Type to determine which employees get included for the Managers and Regular Users.

Additional Information
This is only available for some Widgets that display information for other employees.

Step 9: On the Access Controls tab, select a User Group with the users you’d like to access the Widget, then select the Arrow to move it to Selected.

Additional Information
For users to view the Widget, one of their User Groups must be in the Selected Column unless there’s a * in the Selected column. A * in the Selected column grants access to all users.

For more information on user groups, go to Avanti Security Overview: User Groups & Avanti Users.

Step 10: Repeat Step 9 for each User Group you’d like to have access to the Widget.

Step 11: Select OK to save your Widget.

Congratulations! Anyone with access can now start adding the Widget to their homepage.

Do you want the Widget to appear automatically for anyone without a Widget setup or have the Widget display for everyone? Go to the Widget Defaults section below.

How to Create Widget Defaults

Using Widget Defaults, you can set Widgets to display if they haven’t set up a Widget. You can also have the Widget display for everyone and not allow them to remove it.

Additional Information
These all default from the Widget Source; you can find information for each option above in Create the Widget
