Punches Not in Maintain Punches

Is Maintain Punches missing an employee’s punches when other employees' punches display from the same clock? This article guides you through identifying and resolving the issue.

If there are punches in Maintain Punches that aren’t updating your employees' Time Cards, go to Punches not in Time Cards for more information.

Additional Information
When confirming whether there are punches in Maintain Punches, ensure ‘Show Processed’ is selected.

Confirm Your Clocks are Online

Step 1: Open Clocks on the Avanti Self-Service Portal.

Step 2: Confirm whether False displays under offline for any clocks you’re currently using.

Additional Information
False displays for Online when:

  • The clock is completing normal functions, but only for a minute or two.

  • The clock is receiving or sending information to Avanti, such as when you’re synching users.

  • Avanti is unable to communicate with the clock.

Step 3: Here are a couple of things to try if your clocks go offline for longer than 5 minutes:

  • If all your clocks at a location are offline, it’s likely an issue on your local network:

    • Please check with your IT Team to confirm the network status.

  • If one of your clocks has gone offline:

    • Try resetting the clock. You can find the reset button on the clock’s left-side, under the rubber flap. You’ll need a thin object, such a paperclip, to press reset.

    • Confirm the network status with your IT Team.

    • If the clock is still offline, we can help. Get in touch with Client Care for assistance.

Once your clocks are online, confirm whether the employees punches are in Maintain Punches.

Confirm the Employee is in Employee Clock Data

Step 1: Open Employee Clock Data on the Avanti Desktop Application.
By default, this can be found in Time Clocks >> Installation & Maintenance.

Step 2: Enter the employee's name or number in the search, then select the Magnifying Glass.

Step 3: Confirm whether the employee is displayed.

If the employee isn’t there, go to Adding an Employee to a Clock for more information on adding the employee to clocks. Once you’ve finished adding the employee, confirm the punches populate in Maintain Punches.

Step 4: Select the employee and select Modify.

Step 5: Confirm the clock is selected for the employee in Clocks.

Confirm the PIN on the Clock

Step 1: On the clock, ask the employee to send you the ID number displayed when they punch.

Additional Information
Depending on the clock type, the ID may be called:

  • User ID

  • User PIN

  • PIN

  • ID

Step 2: Open Employee Clock Data on the Avanti Desktop Application.
By default, this can be found in Time Clocks >> Installation & Maintenance.

Step 3: Enter the employee's name or number in the search, then select the Magnifying Glass.

Step 4: Confirm the Clock PIN matches the employee’s ID on the clock.

Changing the PIN in Assign Enrollments

Complete this section if the employee’s PIN on the clock is incorrect and must be changed.

Step 1: Open Assign Enrollments on the Avanti Desktop Application.
By default, this can be found in Time Clocks >> Installation & Maintenance.,

Step 2: Enter the PIN from the clock in the search, then select the Magnifying Glass.

Step 3: Select the correct PIN, then select Change PIN.

Step 4: Enter the correct PIN in New Clock PIN.

Step 5: Determine what should be done with the employee’s punches.

  • If all of the employee’s past punches are needed to populate Time Cards, ensure Update All Punches is selected and go to Step 7.

  • If you’ve already updated or approved some of the employee’s Time Cards, deselect Update All Punches.

Step 6: Select the date and time of the most recent time card you updated or approved for the employee in Ignore Punches Prior to.

Additional Information
Punches before this date/time won't create Time Cards; punches after this will create Time Cards.

Step 7: Select which of the employee’s enrollment values to keep.

Additional Information
This is only available if there’s enrollment information in Avanti and on the clock. The enrollment information is the face and fingerprint used to verify the employee’s identity.

  • Select Merge with existing enrollment to keep the enrollment information from Avanti, but add any missing enrollment information from the clock.

  • Select Replace Enrollment to keep all the enrollment information from the clock.

  • Select Keep existing enrollment to keep all the enrollment information from Avanti.

Step 8: Select OK to update the employee.

You’re all done! The employee in Avanti aligns with the clock, and you’ll be able to see their next punch in Maintain Punches.

Change the PIN in Employee Clock Data

Complete this section if the employee’s PIN in Avanti is incorrect and must be changed.

Step 1: Open Employee Clock Data on the Avanti Desktop Application.
By default, this can be found in Time Clocks >> Installation & Maintenance.

Step 2: Enter the employee's name or number in the search, then select the Magnifying Glass.

Step 3: Select the employee and select Modify.

Step 4: Change the Clock PIN to the correct PIN, then select OK.

Step 5: To keep the clock enrollment values from the clock, select Yes for the following:

Congratulations! The employee in Avanti aligns with the clock, and you’ll be able to see their next punch in Maintain Punches.
