Add, Review, and Update the Transmitter Data

The transmitter data identifies your organization to the CRA and MRQ when you submit the transmitter files. This article will guide you through adding the transmitter data for 2021.

If you’ve already created your 2021 Transmitter Data, please take a moment to ensure the information is still accurate. To do so, skip to the Review and Update Transmitter Data section below.

How to Add the 2021 Transmitter Data

You can add the transmitter data anytime before updating the 2021 tax slip groups.

Step 1: Open Modify Transmitter Data in the Avanti Desktop Application.
By default, this can be found in Canadian Payroll >> Tax Slip Processing.

Step 2: Select Insert.

Step 3: The tax year should default to the correct tax year, but please update if it is incorrect.

Step 4: Review and update the following information for the organization:

  • Employer name

  • Address

  • City

  • Province

  • Country

  • Portal Code

Additional Information
These will default to the information selected in Employer Information. If there is outdated information, please update in both places.
By default, Employer Information can be found in Canadian Payroll >> Installation & Maintenance.

Step 5: Select the correct Transmitter Type from the following options.

  • Select Submit on behalf of others if your organization is a service bureau.

  • Select Submit on your own behalf if your organization is filing your tax slips.

  • Select You are a software vendor if your organization is a software vendor filing on behalf of others.

Additional Information
Most organizations will select Submit on your own behalf.

Step 6: In Transmitter ID, enter your ID from the previous year.

Additional Information
Transmitter ID is no longer used by the CRA. If you don’t have one, enter MM000000.

Step 7: Enter the information for the person CRA and MRQ may contact if questions about this transmission arise:

  • Contact Person

  • Phone

  • Language

  • E-Mail

If you don’t have employees in Quebec, skip to Step 10.

Step 8: In Transmitter ID Enter the transmitter number assigned by Revenu Québec. If you do not have a transmitter number, contact Revenu Québec directly.

Step 9: In Enterprise Number, enter the assigned number for this employer.

Step 10: Select OK to save your changes.

Great job! Your Transmitter Data is ready for 2021 tax slips. The next step in the tax slip process is Create, Update, and Review Tax Slip Groups.

How to Review and Update Transmitter Data

If you’ve previously created the 2021 transmitter data for reconciliation, you should review the information to ensure accuracy.

Step 1: Open Modify Transmitter Data in the Avanti Desktop Application.
By default, this can be found in Canadian Payroll >> Tax Slip Processing.

Step 2: Select the 2021 transmitter data, then select Modify.
