Add the Financial Calendar for the New Year

The G/L Financial Calendar ensures that each pay is included in the correct accounting period. This article will guide you through creating your calendars so all of the 2024 payroll year has a Financial Calendar.

If your fiscal year-end is December 31st, you will need to add a new Financial Calendar before processing the first pay of 2024.

If your fiscal year-end is not December 31st, you will need to add a new Financial Calendar to ensure that the entire 2024 year has a Financial Calendar. Additionally, you will need to verify that the accounting periods are accurate for the beginning of 2024.

How to Add the Financial Calendar

Step 1: Open G/L Financial Calendar in the Avanti Desktop Application.
By default, this can be found in Financial System.

Step 2: Select Insert.

Step 3: Update the Periods Per Year if it is incorrect.

Step 4: Update the Start Date if it is incorrect.

Important Information
The Start Date should be the day after the end of the last period of the previous year.

Step 5: Update the beginning of the period if it is incorrect.

Additional Information
Changing the Beginning Date of a period will automatically update the Ending Date of the previous period.

Step 6: Repeat Step 5 for each period, updating as necessary.

Step 7: Select OK to save your changes.

If your fiscal year-end is December 31st, congratulations! Your G/L Financial Calendar is now ready for 2024! The next step in the year-end process is Add the Payroll Calendars for the New Year.

If your fiscal year-end is not December 31st, please verify that the accounting periods for the 2022 fiscal year are accurate.

How to Verify Accounting Periods in the Current Financial Calendar

This only needs to be completed if your fiscal year-end is not December 31st.

Step 1: Open G/L Financial Calendar in the Avanti Desktop Application.
By default, this can be found in Financial System.

Step 2: Select the 2023 Fiscal Year and select Modify.

Step 3: Confirm whether the dates of each accounting period are correct.

Step 4: Update the beginning of the period if it is incorrect.

Additional Information
Changing the Beginning Date of a period will automatically update the Ending Date of the previous period.

Step 5: Repeat Step 4 for each period, updating as necessary.

Step 6: Select OK to save your changes.

All set! Your G/L Financial Calendar is now ready for 2024! The next step in the year-end process is Add the New Year’s Payroll Calendars.
