Clock Administrator Access for Salaried Employees

If you’re setting up a clock administrator who isn’t using Avanti’s Time & Attendance to track time, they’ll need to be a part of a work group in Avanti. These clock administrators are typically salaried employees.

Want to grant clock administrator access to an employee already using the clocks? Check out Clock Administrator Access for Employees for more details.

On the clock, administrators can:

  • Add and delete employees from the clock.

  • Change employees’ biometric information.

  • Adjust clock settings.

This article guides you through creating a work group for salaried employees and adding the work group to your salaried clock administrators.

Additional Information
You cannot add employees without a work group to clocks from Avanti.

How to Create a Work Group

This section guides you through setting up the work group for salaried employees. You’ll add the same work group to all your clock administrators who are also salaried employees.

Step 1: Open Work Groups in the Avanti Desktop Application.
By default, this can be found in Time & Attendance >> Installation & Maintenance.

Step 2: Select Insert.

Step 3: Enter a Work Group ID and Description.

Additional Information
You cannot change the Work Group ID at a later time.

Step 4: Select OK.

Additional Information
Since managers in this work group do not use Time & Attendance to capture time worked, you don’t need to adjust any other settings.

Congratulations! You’re all done creating the work group you’ll add to all your salaried clock administrators.

How to Assign the Work Group to Employees

This section guides you through adding the work group to your clock administrators who don’t use Time & Attendance to track time worked.

Step 1: Select the Employment Data tab on the Employee Profile in the Avanti Desktop Application.
By default, this can be found in Employee Profile.

Step 2: Select the Employee.

Step 3: Select the Work Group you just created, then click OK.

Important Information
If the employee already has a work group, don’t update it; if the employee uses Time & Attendance to capture time, updating the work group impacts how the employee’s time is paid.

Step 4: Repeat Steps 2 and 3 for each salaried employee you’re adding as a clock administer.

Congratulations! Your clock administrators now have work groups, and you can add them to the clock.
