Employee Punches not Appearing in Time Cards

Does an employee have punches in Maintain Punches but there's no time card generated or the punches are not populating an existing time card? This article guides you through identifying and resolving the issue so punches flow seamlessly into time cards.

How to know when punches aren't populating timecards

If you aren’t using schedules, time cards aren’t created from the unprocessed punches in Maintain Punches.

If you’re using schedules, Punches aren't populating a time card when Punch In and Punch Out are blank on the time card and there are unprocessed punches in Maintain Punches on the same day.

Does the Pay Code Match to Punches?

This guides you through confirming that the pay code uses punches. If you’ve just added a new pay code, this will likely resolve your issue.

Step 1: Open Pay Codes on the Avanti Desktop Application.
By default, this can be found in Time & Attendance >> Installation & Maintenance >> Time Cards.

Step 2: Select the Pay Code of the Time Card, then select Modify.

Step 3: Confirm whether Match to Punches is selected.

Step 4: If Match to Punches is deselected, select it.

Step 5: Select OK and close all instances of the Avanti Desktop Application & reopen.

Congratulations! The punches should now be populating the Time Card.

Is ‘Punches Used’ selected in Time & Attendance Parameters?

Step 1: Open Time & Attendance Parameters on the Avanti Desktop Application. By default, this can be found in Time & Attendance >> Installation & Maintenance.

Step 2: Select the Options tab.

Step 3: Confirm whether Punches Used is selected.

Step 4: If Punches Used is not selected, select it.

Step 5: Select OK and close all instances of the Avanti Desktop Application.

Congratulations! The punches should now be populating/creating Time Cards.

Are the Punches Types ‘Clock In/Out’?

Step 1: Open Maintain Punches on the Avanti Desktop Application.
By default, this can be found in Time & Attendance >> Installation & Maintenance >> Time Cards.

Step 2: Select the employee and date range for the missing punches.

Step 3: In Maintain Punches, confirm whether the Event Type is Clock In/Out for the punches.

  • If the Event Type is not Clock In/Out, please contact Client Care, for additional assistance.

Step 4: If the Event Type is Clock In/Out, open Time & Attendance Parameters on the Avanti Desktop Application.
By default, this can be found in Time Clocks >> Installation & Maintenance.

Step 5: Select the Options tab.

Step 6: Confirm whether Preprocess In/Out punches is selected in Time & Attendance Parameters.

  • If Preprocess In/Out punches is selected, please contact Client Care, for additional assistance.

Step 7: If Preprocess In/Out punches is not selected, select it.

Step 8: Select OK and close all instances of the Avanti Desktop Application & reopen.

Congratulations! The punches should now be populating the Time Card.
