Reviewing your Dental Benefits on Pay Groups

Before creating your tax slips, you’ll want to review the dental benefits to ensure they’re set right for each pay group.

During the Extract Employee Tax Slip Data, the dental benefits populate:

  • Box 45 on T4s

  • Box 015 on T4As, if there’s an amount in box 016

Additional Information
Employee’s pay group is taken from their last pay of the year unless you’re extracting from the previous year. If you’re extracting from the previous year, it uses the pay group on the employee’s profile at the time you extract.

There’s no need to worry about your terminated employees; when you extract your tax slips, you can update terminated employees to have no dental insurance or coverage.

How to Review the Dental Benefits

Step 1: Open Pay Groups in the Avanti Desktop Application.
By default, this can be found in Canadian Payroll >> Employer Payroll Tables.

Step 2: Select Print.

Step 3: Select Print Preview to display the Results.

Additional Information
If Print Preview is not displayed, go to the Printer Setup tab and select Printer for Destination. Now Print Preview will show.

Step 4: Review each pay group and ensure the Dental Benefits (T4/T4A) is correct.

Are all the Dental Benefits correct? Congratulations! You’re ready for the next step in the Tax Slip Process, Ensuring all Employee Addresses and Social Insurance Numbers are Up-To-Date.
