Creating an Admin User Group

To enable the New Avanti Experience, you must be part of the Admin User Group. If you don’t already have an Admin User Group, you’ll need to:

  1. Create the Group

  2. Add Users to the Group

If you already have an Admin User Group but aren’t part of it, skip to the How to Add Users to the Admin Group section below.

Additional Information
Want to learn more about creating other User Groups? Check out Avanti Security Overview: User Groups & Avanti Users.

How to Create a User Group

An Admin User Group is required to set up the New Avanti Experience.

Step 1: Open User Groups in the Avanti Desktop, then select Insert.
By default, this can be found in System Administration >> System Access Controls.

Step 2: Enter Admin in User Group.

Step 3: Select Windows and Web for Access Type, then select Apply.

Step 4: Select Insert.

Step 5: Select the drop-down menu, then select your company that you would like to use for the New Avanti Experience.

Step 6: Enter a * for Computer Name.

Step 7: Enter an A for Responsibility.

Additional Information
This gives each User in this User Group the highest responsibility level in Avanti. If you would like to restrict access, enter a letter between A and Z. For more information, go to Responsibilities.

Step 8: Select OK.

Step 9: Repeat Steps 4 to 8 for each company you would like to use the New Avanti Experience.

Step 10: Select OK to save your changes.

How to Add Users to the Admin Group

Now that you have an Admin User Group, it’s time to add your Users.

Additional Information
Only Users in the Admin User Group can access configuration in the New Avanti Experience.

Step 1: Open Avanti Users in the Avanti Desktop.
By default, this can be found in System Administration >> System Access Controls.

Step 2: Select a User that you want to have access to the New Avanti Experience Setup, then select Modify.

Additional Information
If you entered an A in the User Group Responsibility, this user gets full access based on menu responsibility; only the selected User Groups for each menu restricts menu access in Avanti.

Step 3: Select Admin in the Available column, then select the arrow.

Additional Information
This moves Admin to the Available column.

Step 4: Select OK to save your changes.

Step 5: Repeat Steps 2 to 4 for each User you’d like to set up and configure the New Avanti Experience.

Congratulations! You’re ready to enable the New Avanti Experience.
